Congratulations to the Margaret of Ladram for breaking the Brixham port record when they landed for yesterday’s market. Here are the crew celebrating in the fish room.
About the Margaret of Ladram
One of the newer trawlers in the Waterdance fleet, beam trawler Margaret of Ladram works lighter modern trawl gear with mesh sizes tuned to filter out juvenile fish and to avoid sand and rocks that older types of gear used to collect. Skipper Adam Cowan-Dickie and his crew are searching primarily for sole, monk, turbot, and Adam stresses that top-quality fish is what they want, so tows are kept to an hour and up to an hour and forty minutes as short tows contribute heavily to maintaining quality.
