An update from our Managing Director
April 27, 2020
Its now a month since the UK went into lockdown as a result of the Covid 19 crisis. This has been a challenge for us all and Waterdance is incredibly proud of those frontline workers in our healthcare system who are bravely caring for those affected by the virus.
Fish is food and is therefore part of the UK’s critical national infrastructure, so all of our vessels have continued to work through the crisis. We have made changes to our operating patterns and crewing to ensure that the safety of our people is maintained. This has been done in tandem with our quayside partners who handle the fish once landed.
The markets we sell to have changed; less fish has gone to Europe, and obviously none to hotels and restaurants, but there has been a rising market in the UK retail trade, and I am pleased to report that, as from Monday 28th April, Morrisons supermarkets have reopened their fresh fish counters. We hope the other supermarkets will follow shortly.
Waterdance remains fully operational, with our ocean-going crews at the heart of what we do; we will continue to provide our clients with the very best UK-caught fish, both during the crisis and when we emerge from it. Here are a few different fish recipes from our sister company, Greendale Farm Shop, which can deliver our fresh fish nationwide.
