Georgina Of Ladram
BEAM TRAWLER
About
Georgina of ladram
Georgina of Ladram has a special place in the south-west fishing fleet as the first new beam trawler to be built for the UK flag for almost twenty years, and the first for Brixham for thirty years.
Its arrival in Brixham in 2020 marked a milestone for Waterdance, and the fulfilment of the company’s long-held aspiration to build a new beam trawler. Built at the Luyt shipyard in the Netherlands, Georgina of Ladram combines the traditional functionality of the conventional beam trawler with new approaches to some aspects of its operation, not least low fuel consumption and emissions achieved with a high-efficiency propulsion system and painstaking design of the propeller, nozzle and the stern section to maintain the best possible flow of water.

Georgina of Ladram has an overall length of 35 metres and an 8.70 metre breadth, making this a stable, comfortable trawler with ample hold space and room aft for comfortable, low-noise accommodation comprising cabins and a roomy mess deck for the crew, who work a rotation system to ensure everyone gets time ashore.
The stylish lines and the new thinking in Georgina of Ladram’s design and build are partnered by having the deck and other equipment doubled up for safety. The ten-drum fishing winch is built with safety wires and a trawl management system for safe operation, as well as additional gilsons for handling the 12-metre beam trawl gear.
