Govenek Of Ladram

About
Govenek Of Ladram
The forerunner in the Waterdance fleet of netters operating from Newlyn in Cornwall, Govenek of Ladram is familiar to TV audiences after featuring in Channel 4’s The Catch series, during which the skipper and his crew became stars of the show as they searched for hake, monkfish and turbot across the south-west approaches.
Govenek of Ladram works across a variety of fishing grounds, combining gill net and trammel net fisheries for its target species as the seasons and tides vary, while also keeping trips to a few days to keep the catch in peak condition. Landings are timed against those of the other netting boats in the fleet to avoid overloading the markets, and Govenek of Ladram’s fish goes to the South west auctions.

The 22.65 metre Govenek of Ladram was built in 1986 as the Fruitful Bough for owners in Scotland, where it fished for groundfish as a seine netter and twin-rig trawler. It became part of the Waterdance fleet when it was acquired in 2009 and was converted at the Macduff yard in Scotland to operate solely with static gill and trammel nets.
